What is Paddle & Portage? Teams or individuals canoe a course in Lake Mendota, portage their canoes across the Isthmus (around the State Capitol Building) and canoe across Lake Monona.
 

Who can volunteer? Navigators (Paddle and Portage volunteers) can be any group or individual that would like to help.  All ages are welcome, however children under the age of 16 MUST have a parent/guardian volunteering with them.
 

What do Navigators Do?  You may choose from 3 portions of the course to be a Navigator.         

         Start - Help with registration and check in, wave start, or as a Navigator as the athletes exit water. 
         Portage Course - Lining the course on corners to make sure of safety for athetes as they run the streets or work a water station handing out water and picking up cups as the athletes run through the course.                                                                                                                                      
         Finish Line - Catcher which helps the athletes get the canoe to the designated area to clear the finish line for the next finishers, hand out t-shirts, pick up garbage at festival.
 

Where: Start of race is James Madison Park; Finish line is Olin-Turville Park
